REEFER MADNESS! ft. Ethan Slater
I was stoked to spend this summer working Lance Horne, Matt Aument, and Macy Schmidt as a music assistant for the star-studded staged reading of REEFER MADNESS, directed by Broadway’s Stephen Brackett. It was a fast-paced, thrilling process with some incredibly funny material.
Kevin Murphy and Dan Studney’s musical, based on the 1936 propaganda film, premiered in Los Angeles before a 2001 Off-Broadway bow. A 2005 screen adaptation followed with a cast including Kristen Bell, Christian Campbell (who serves as a producer for the reading), Alan Cumming, and Ana Gasteyer. This summer’s reading featured Ethan Slater (Spongebob) and Lena Hall (Hedwig and the Angry Inch)!
