Northwestern’s Waa-Mu Show!
“The greatest college show in America.”
Waa-Mu changed my life immeasurably, both personally and professionally.
As a conductor, music director, vocal arranger, orchestrator, and copyist, I helped create four incredible student-written musicals, making friendships that will last a lifetime. I wouldn’t be who I am today without Waa-Mu and the mentorship of Dr. Ryan Nelson.
In April of 2020, my junior year, State of the Art was only weeks away from opening when the U.S. shut down for the COVID-19 pandemic. We rapidly re-created the show to be performed live over Zoom, one of the world’s first experiments in the unique form of streamed, distanced storytelling that became familiar to us all as the year progressed. The following year, I led our student music team in the production of The Secret of Camp Elliot, Waa-Mu’s first movie-musical.
